A publication about the long life of assets.
Projects Advisors examines what happens to major physical assets across their whole life, how they are conceived, how they are delivered, what survives the handover, and what it takes to own them well.
It exists because the literature on delivering projects is extensive and the literature on inheriting their output is thin. The interesting problems are at the joins, and the joins are where almost nobody writes.
Authorship and responsibility
Projects Advisors writes and publishes everything here, and takes responsibility for it.
Claims stand on the evidence attached to them: published sources, stated reasoning and a basis-of-claims index.
Funding and editorial independence
Projects Advisors receives no external funding, sponsorship or payment for coverage. No article is commissioned by, prepared for or subject to approval by any person or organisation discussed in it. Editorial positions are the publication’s own and are supported by the sources, calculations and reasoning shown on the relevant page.
How it is written
Structural, not anecdotal
Pieces describe how programmes of a given type behave, not what happened on a particular job. Nothing here is drawn from confidential material, and no client, project or organisation is ever the subject.
Sourced where it matters
Figures are attributed. Standards are referenced rather than reproduced. Where a claim rests on judgement rather than evidence, it says so.
Filed by stage
Every article is filed under the lifecycle stage it mainly concerns, and some carry their argument across more than one. The writing builds into a single argument rather than a pile of posts.
Revision dates remain visible
Articles show their publication and revision dates. Material errors are corrected on the affected page.
Where it applies
The standards tested here are global, and so is the argument. The worked instances are drawn from the markets where the project to asset handover is happening at the largest scale right now, and each has its own page: what is being built, which conditions of contract and which accounting basis apply, and what that means at the seam.
Correspondence
If something here is wrong, that is worth more than agreement.
Material errors are corrected on the affected pages. Messages are used to reply, not to build a mailing list.
