Strategic asset management plan (SAMP)
Documented information specifying how organisational objectives are converted into asset management objectives, and the role of the asset management system in delivering them.
The SAMP is the translation layer between what the organisation is for and what it intends to do about its assets. It is where a corporate objective becomes an asset objective, and where the approach to achieving it is set out.
In the 2014 edition of ISO 55001 the SAMP was referred to in several places without being gathered into a requirement of its own. The 2024 edition gives it Clause 6.2.1, at the head of the objectives clause, and ISO lists the change among the main differences between editions.
